original oil paintings

I've been wanting to paint this black pitcher with the checkerboard pattern and pewter cover for quite some time. I chose to pair it with limes to enjoy their reflection in the glossy glaze. But then I had trouble coming up with a title so resorted to the simple descriptive title: Lime & Pitcher.

It's important to consider what will be the "star" of a painting composition and here I think it is the interplay of color between the black glaze and the vibrant limes. But to be honest, I'm pretty happy with the fabric folds! I know they are simple and not dramatically eye-catching, but they can be tricky to paint and in this case, they do make me smile!
